Our story

約130年の合掌造りの家で

白川郷・荻町の合掌造りの建物で営む喫茶店です。大きな窓から田んぼと集落を眺めながら、コーヒーとケーキでゆっくりお寛ぎください。

文化喫茶 郷愁（CAFE KYOSYU）は、白川郷・荻町にある合掌造りの建物の中の喫茶店です。この家はおよそ130年前に建てられ、2020年に茅葺き屋根を葺き替えました。昔と同じ姿のまま、今もこの場所に建っています。

店内の大きな窓からは、田んぼと合掌造りの集落、向かいの明善寺の茅葺きや鐘楼が見渡せます。春は桜、初夏は水を張った田んぼ、秋は実りの田と紅葉、冬は一面の雪と、季節ごとに窓の外の景色が移り変わります。

冬には、茅葺きの屋根に高く積もった雪を職人さんに下ろしていただきます。春には、つばめの夫婦がお店に巣を作りに来てくれました。そんな集落の暮らしも感じながら、景色を眺めてくつろいでいただける場所でありたいと思っています。

A coffee house inside a thatched gassho house in Ogimachi, Shirakawa-go – coffee and cake with the rice fields and village outside the window.

Bunka Kissa Kyoshu (Cafe Kyosyu) is a coffee house inside a gassho-zukuri farmhouse in Ogimachi, Shirakawa-go. The house is about 130 years old; its thatched roof was renewed in 2020, and it still stands much as it always has.

Our big windows look over rice paddies and the thatched village – cherry blossom in spring, flooded fields in early summer, gold and red in autumn and deep snow in winter.

世界遺産・白川郷の荻町

荻町は、合掌造りの家々と田んぼが広がる白川郷の集落です。お店の向かいには明善寺があり、高台の展望台からは集落全体を見渡せます。

Ogimachi is Shirakawa-go's main village of thatched houses and rice fields. Myozenji temple stands across the way, and the hilltop lookout shows the whole village.
